Galilee to Jerusalem – Branch 3

Building on the themes of promise and waiting explored previously, this branch looks closely at the everyday life, actions, and teachings of Jesus. It moves the narrative forward by showing how Jesus put his beliefs into practice—not through political power or grand displays, but through simple storytelling, healings, personal conversations, and caring for people who felt forgotten or left behind by society. Here, pupils explore what it actually meant to follow Jesus, looking at why ordinary men and women chose to leave their regular routines behind to join him and hear his message of kindness, fairness, and love.
This branch acts as the vital bridge between hearing about a promised teacher and seeing how he lived out his principles in real time. By looking at how Jesus welcomed outsiders and challenged people to think differently about how they treat others, it helps pupils understand the challenges and responsibilities of standing up for what is right. The journey from Galilee down to Jerusalem captures the momentum of Jesus’ public life, naturally setting the stage for the following unit, “Desert to garden,” where the story turns to the dramatic final days of his life, his death, and the message of new beginnings that followed.
